  • what's the advantage of UNIQUE unit of each nation please ?

I think UNIQUE unit have some advantage in..

    1. Price
    2. Building Speed
    3. Unit Stat --> Move faster, have more armor, more damage, more hit point, more rate of fire etc...

but I curious about is this UNIQUE unit have some thing affect to their unit type ?

I mean if this is should be "Archer" but it's just UNIQUE UNIT .. Can I still counter by Light Infantry?

or it'll change their status and I must to check tooltip help only?

I don't think the fact that a UU is an UU makes it less vunerable to its counter. Sure, it has a better chance of triumphing because of its higher stats or greater numbers (lower price, but I don't think any of the UU get price breaks, they are just stronger).

UUs are mostly still vulnerable to their counter, with the possible exception of chinese fire lances. It says that they are highly effective against calvalry, and if I remember correctly normal ranged infantry is vulnerable to heavy and light calvalry pre enlightenment age, while the chinese have fire lances before anyone else.

The hassle with unit strengths (and weaknesses) in general is that many of the relationships appear to be hardcoded into the game and not yet documented (numerically). You cannot just go into the XML data files to get the scoop.

Are there anyway or any place that have counter guide for unique unit only please ?

but it's very hard to remember that all

I've been going on the assumption that unique units are treated the same as their class for counter bonuses. I haven't seen anything yet to change my mind. I've played a few games where I never built any of the uniques as Egyptian. The majority of uniques aren't that much better than their regular counterparts, certainly not to a degree that would warrant choosing your Civ over. The special powers are far more important.

If you click on a unit, it says what it's strengths and weaknesses are

it does, but i've noticed that several of the UUs have the same numbers as their counterparts, and some that are different, namly the Inca's Inci Clubman and Maceman, which replace the Javeliner(sp), are stronger but are melee and not ranged units, which makes you wonder if the are really better
                Civ=pi CivII=pi*d CivCTP=pi*r^2 CivIII=4/3pi*r^3 (hopefully)
                Civ pi= It's coming
                P.S. pi=(about)3.14159

I did some testing and when facing counters or the units they counter uniques perform very similarly to their non-unique counterparts. However they win quite easily when facing their non-unique counterparts.

UU's don't seem to offer a huge advantage... I choose my nation based upon their bonuses, not their Unique units.

The lack of documentation on uu's has left me unimpressed. And through all the games I have played I have never gotten the fealing that my uu's did any bettter or worse than regs.

Musketeer: "Powerful in quantity but somewhat slow-firing."

Highlander: "Particularly effective against all forms of enemy infantry."

If you put a Musketeer up against a Musketeer then the winner will have severe damage. If you put a Highlander up against a Musketeer the Highlander wins while taking less damage.

That's part of the reason I play British (aside from their awesome commerce cap benefit) - Highlanders and Black Watch units destroy not only the units they counter would normally counter but the non-unique versions of themselves (ie Musketeers and Riflemen). It offers a large advantage during the Enlightenment and Industrial Ages, and these ages are where much of the game-determining fighting takes place.

I imagine other UU perform in a similar fashion.

verry descriptive list of all units of all nations

Now I play as Nubians for their archer/cav archer UU's
Their economy advantages makes them easy to amas a large quantity of their UU's

                          Camel Archer (and upgrades)
                          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Excellent raiders who can fire even while moving; particularly effective against enemy Light Infantry.
                          Unit can garrison in fort
                          • Unit does not need to be researched once prerequisite discovered
                            Unit can fire while moving
Unit is a non-standard or unique unit

                            Strong vs: Heavy Infantry, Civilians
                            Weak vs: Light Cavalry, Archers

                          Ku****e Archers (and upgrades)
                          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Medium-ranged foot infantry with little armor; highly effective against all enemy archers.
                          Unit can garrison in town/tower
                          • Unit can garrison in fort
Unit available w/ preq even if predecessors not researched.
Unit is part of infantry family
Unit is a non-standard or unique unit

                            Strong vs: Heavy Infantry
Weak vs: Heavy Cavalry, Light Infantry

So you have 2 UU's who can cover each other fairly well on the counter part, throw in some pikes to counter heavy/light cav's

                          • ku****e weak vs Light Inf -> Camel Archer strong vs
Camel Archer weak vs archer-> ku****e strong vs Archers
                            Both strong vs Heavy Infantry
Both weak vs Cavalry -> throw in pikes

Yup one of the most ballanced UU's in the game
The Nubian's only suffer in the late game, but should fairly *buy* themselves a way through the ages/technologies/units/buildings to maintain the upper hand

Consider building wonders that augment your wealth cap/gather rate like:
                          • Colosus
                            Pyramid (less priority then Colosus)
                            the wonderfull Porcelain tower
                            Taj Mahal

                          *Katsjing*

                          other Usefull links

                          and the wonderfull technology tree

PS: Try to experiment yourself with the UU's Advantages of all Nations

On Oracle, what does TO HIT mean?

If you study the unit stats carefully at ronoracle you can see that ranged units all have a 'to hit' value that exceeds 0.
So I think it is meant as a hit 'percentage' for ranged units.
