  • Help - Game runs fine with intermittant choppiness

    OK...

My games all run fine for about 10 minutes and then at random times it will appear to freeze up for about 10 seconds. Then poof, it goes back to normal for another few minutes and then it freezes again.

It always seems to un-freeze itself, but I can't seem to figure out what the heck is going on to make it do that.

When it un-freezes, the screen flashes and all of the units refresh on the screen. It is really bizarre.

    Im running AMD XP 2200+
    GeForce 4 ti 4200
    SB Audigy 2
Latest drivers for each (I'm going to go verify that now)
    DirectX 9.0a
    RON Patch 1.14

Anyone else have this happening to them? If does not seem to be the basic FPS problems because between freezes the game runs really well. It also is not a CTD or total system hang, just a temporary graphics freeze.

I'm stumped. I'll keep trying stuff and post if I find out anything. Thanks for any advice you all may have.

What kind of motherboard do you have?

      Abit KD7-E
      512 MB Crucial DDR
      WD 100GB 7200 rpm 8mb cache

Checked all the drivers and they were the latest.

      Re-installed RON, no luck.

Well, I've tried everything short of re-installing WinXP.

Anyone else have this problem or is it just me?
