  • Pixel and Vertex Shadders - Card Help

I'm really excited about this game, however, my card won't run it . . . but I am excited enough to actually consider getting a new card. I was looking at the XFX GeForce 4 MX440SE 64MB PCI Video Card which I can get for a decent price, and it's alos nVidia based(http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/sub...10&catid=10524) All of the reviews are good, except for one that says it doesn't support Pixel or Vertex Shadders.
    So, I have two questions:
Anybody running Rise of Nations on this card?
Is it worth it to run the game on a card that doesn't support this technology?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Okay, I only just noticed that under card issues they are refering to this card, and mention the nuclear explosion and boat reflection problems. Does that mean that the 43.45 driver will then allow the Directx 8.1 Pixel and Vertex shadders?

The MX version of the GeForce 4 cards, does not support pixel and vertex shaders regardless of drivers.

Thanks for the reply, very helpful.
I'll probably pick this card up anyway though since the price is definately right, and puts me above even the recommended requirements. Hopefully without the directx 8.1 stuff the reflections will just be absent, not horribly weird.

If you were only a few months earlier you could had a better cheaper card in the 8500LE. It was only $99 at futureshop but its gone now.
