Ok, I got the economic side of the game down. I was playing a 2v2 game on a huge (6-player) map that was four big islands separated by water.
My ally quit early in medieval, leaving me to face to moderate comps.
Using germans, I quickly jumped in front economically; I was ahead by over 4000 points. I had established naval dominance and was blowing any fisherboat or dock I could find to hell. I had set up a network of towers and forts on my island that repelled a good half-dozen dedicated attacks. I was already in Modern age when the comps were still researching Industrial.
So since modern is when the germans get their unique units and since I was already ahead in the tech race, I decided to attack. I had Versailles and Statue of Liberty.
I used a bunch of tiger tanks, german machine guns, half a dozen helicopters, half a dozen bombers, half a dozen fighters, a general, and like 10 spec. ops to kill spies and such.
I figured with such technology, I would be able to plow through the computers. While I am nowhere near as good at the military side of it as I am at the economics, I can consistently beat moderate with other civs.
With Germany, I can't win a single battle. That above-mentioned force got its ass whooped by riflemen and a few bits of artillery. How the hell is that possible? What am I doing wrong? Is it my mix of forces, are there specific things I should be doing with the german military, or is the "superior" german warmachine a gimp?
