  • How do you disable the intro movies?

    They're very nice, but I only wanted to see them once and now it's annoying to click through them every time I boot the game.

    Is it possible to disable them?

    I haven't tried this, but there's a key in the registry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Rise of Nations\FIRSTRUN

    Mine is set to 1, even though I've run the game several times. Maybe if you set it to 0, the video will go away.

      I'd rather not mess around with the registry unless I knew exactly what the effect would be, but thanks for the idea anyway.
      I may try it if I get desperate

        Check out the settings in rise2.ini. I don't recall the exact string but it should be obvious.

          The file you want is rise2.ini. The string is something like ShowIntroMovie=1, just replace the 1 with a 0 and save the file as rise2.ini. No more intro movies. My problem is just the opposite. Attempting to run the game with intro movies crashes the game instantly, so I have never seen them.

            Yep, what he said...

            Doh, somebody beat me to it but realize that a 1 = true so to skip the movies the value needs to be a 1 and started as a 0 (false).

            Hey There,

            Right there in the RISE2.INI, fairly early in the list is:

            SkipIntroMovies=0

            Change that to:

            SkipIntroMovies=1

            And the movies are no more, there is still a bit of a loading pause before you get to the Main Menu but no movies.
