  • Strategies for remaining dominant in nuclear arms race?

I have a few ideas, but I have not tested them, so maybe they are not so good. You all probably have better ideas.

My general plan would be to by some method know exactly where my enemy's silos are, and then either use special ops to destroy them (perhaps taking too long?), or use spies to find them, then use conventional rockets (V2, Cruise) to disable them.

The problem of course is finding the silos in the first place as well as being aware of all new ones -- while somehow defending my own.

    Your own ideas?

Best way to slow down your oponants research is to find and destroy oil wells! Nuclear research costs a LOT of oil, so taking out those oil wells will leave him in a panic!

Not only oil wells. Take out Universities also. That will slow down tech advance as well as nukes. It will also result in a wealth drain when he builds more scholars to replace the universities you've destroyed.

It is also important to note that you cannot buy knowledge. You can buy and sell everything else. So if you limit knowledge this will greatly hamper your opponent.

I usually send out roaming scouts once my enemy gets nukes, or spies to infiltrate his cities. Then it's time for a few cruise missiles

Missile shield is a good way

Nuke first, nuke hard, follow up with ground forces.

I like to use Space Program to locate my enemy's silos...then...I use Bombers.

                  Hi,

You don't have to build the Space Program. Just research science all the way and you'll see their buildings. You won't see whether the silos have missiles and you won't see the troops, but you'll have your targets.

Something I've noticed, playing on Moderate, is that the AI loves to launch nukes and will use them first. In the game I finished last night, the Germans nuked one of my cities twice. I was playing the Med map and that city was on the island.

I got him back, though. I saw this large collection of unit construction buildings: 3 barracks, 3 auto plants, 3 siege factories, so I dropped a nuke on them.

I find cruise missiles will take out a silo in one shot. Unfortunately, since they take knowledge, it hurts the rush to get the Space Shield.

I've actually never had an enemy AI use a nuke against me, and I always play on moderate. Dunno why.
