Rise of Nations is the BEST game I have played on my PC in a long time. The graphics are good, the sound is good, the gameplay is fantastic and clearly the design was very well implemented and tested. I bought it on Friday when it came out in the UK and have already played 4 games from beginning to end. I will almost certainly be buying any BHG games in the future!

I have a question... It seems BHG released a patch before the game came out in the UK, will my version already have the patch installed and how can I find out?

      opaque,

Glad you're enjoying the game. Your out-of-box game does not have any patches applied to it. In addition to the auto-patching, we should soon have a self-extracting, standalone patch. This should have been available yesterday but it wasn't. Our apologies. For future patches, they will be released simultaneously.

you know how some games, you know within the first five minutes whether you'll love it to death or not?

the last game i remember feeling that way about was alpha centauri... which i believe i got after starcraft... and before that, civ2.

rise of nations is the fourth such game for me.

          amazingly well done, bhg!

Yes! Excellent stuff BHG (and you too Brian :P ). Thanx for reviving classic RTS for me, and taking it to the next level.

Thumbs up from my corner of the world, it seems that PTW will be on the shelf for some time.

Awesome. The long hours and tedious, relentless attention to the smallest details are obvious throughout every moment of play. Did I really see a Commando cross-country skiing? The game itself is the most engaging and satisfying that I have ever encountered, it has the "just one more turn" aspect of Civ games combined with gameplay that can make StarCraft seem tame by comparison. Why do the Bantu remind me of the Zerg? Oh, the graphics and the music ... both simply superb! Do I hear a hint of the prelude to The Phantom of the Opera at one point?

Thank you very much to Brian Reynolds and all the wonderful people at BHG who put in endless hard days and nights, weekends included no doubt, to give us a wonderful game to brighten our lives. And thanks to Microsoft too, mustn't leave them out!

Most often we gamers must seem like the proverbial swine before whom one casts a pearl of handicraft, me certainly one of the chiefest of sinners in this regard. So thank you very much ladies and gentlemen, RON is far better and far more than I could have possibly believed. This year Christmas came for me on May 20!

This game is amazing, even though I'm horrible at it! One game, I saw birds fly out of the trees as my tanks passed. Can you say ambience. Nice going, Brian!
