  • Picking color wierdness!

In a custom teamsl game with 7 other civs, whenever I pick my color it sometimes switches other player's nations on me... and I can't pick certain colors and successfully start the game- I get a warning about teams... I don't understand this. Anyone explain it to me? Now I'm stuck playing purple! AGH!

In game modes that support co-op play, the color is used to determine which nations are shared by what players. To contrast, teams are relationships between nations. An example:

    Player1 RED Team1
    Player2 RED Team1
    Player3 BLUE Team1
    Player4 GREEN Team2
    Player5 ORANGE Team2

So what we have here is 2 nations vs 2 nations with one of the nations on team1 being controlled co-op style by two players. Was that clear enough or should I provide another example?

Oh man, I thought I was smart but I'm not *quite* getting that... let me regurge:

The color means that that one player controls both those nations, though the nations may or may not be on the same team?

So when I want to set up in a custom teams so you cant do diplo-switching, solo game:

      me: brits: white: -

      vs.

      ai: germ: -

      ai: french: -

      ai: turks: -

      ai: japan: -

      ai: russians: 1
      ai: russians: 1

So we all sort of face a possible russian "empire" more or less, why cannot I pick white without it switching one of the russians into brits (it happens automatically), for example. Or if I switch that one russian back to russian (from brit) switches my color.

(This is almost exactly what is happening to me).

      BTW: THANKS for your HELP!

Also, I know my reply is confusing, because it's confusing trying to figure out exactly what is going on. I cna't pick AI colors, only their nationalities and teams, so I don't KNOW what color they are until the game starts.

No, if 2 players have the same color, they both "share" control over that nation (if it's the same color it's required to be the same nation).

I love that: "No." Well, gee that says a lot.

            LOL.

Uh, the colors are not DISPLAYED in solo battle set-up. Only mine. I want to choose a color, I do it switches my nationality. What gives. No teams set-up even.

In other words: I *CANNOT* control color (other than my own) only nationality and team.

help other than "No," would be greatly appreciated, nyone?

              pick the color first.

oh, and for good measure, no.

I think I know where the confusion is - you can only pick the AI colors in the multiplayer setup screen. The singleplayer setup doesn't display the colors for the AI's. If you want to do co-op with AIs, you'll have to (oddly) set up a single-player game from the multiplayer screen.
