Strange way to get a better framerate

I was messing around with the various resolutions while I was having some serious framerate drops (around 6/s), and I noticed this: I switched from 1280x32 to 1280x16 then back, and I got about 10 extra frames per second after that. Nothing else changed, I simply switched between the two and resumed playing, and got that consistent upgrade to my framerate.

Weird.

I am almost wondering if maybe the resolution isn't switching back correctly.

Huh... that's frustrating to not know... I too get odd framerates <15 on my rig. I really doubt an XP1800+ with a GF4 should be getting <15 fps- everyother game I play I max out details and up to 1280x res. with framerates >50 at all times.... This drop in FPS seems to be CPU reelated though, as it usually occurs when the AI is up to something with masses of units, or pathfinding is all wonky and masses of units can't figure out what to do.

It's a mystery to me.
