It would be pretty nice if nuke silos were impervious to nuclear attack

Yes, it would be pretty nice.

As far as an auto counter-nuke sucking with the armegeddon counter, not at all! It would just make you think twice before using any nukes if your enemy might automatically fire back.

Btw, if an enemy fired all his nukes at me and thought I wouldn't fire back just because of some "armegeddon counter", he would be dead wrong. I would hit him with everything. If the game ended then oh-well, "shouldn't have used those nukes then should you have?" haha.

Oh and bridger, why do you think half of the United States nuclear arsonal is located at sea, on submersed mobile weapon plateforms?

Also, you think its realistic that a nuke can take out a silo - but what about a tomahawk missile? or a commando set to sabatoge??

It might be "realistic", but it's very game unbalancing. For game play issues you shouldn't be able to destroy a silo with missiles, or commandos - they are too important and far too impossible to defend as it is.

Planes are ok since you can make AA defenses and be prepared.

Like all military buildings, silos can be built anywhere in the land you control. By simply placing them away from your citys you will greatly reduce the chances of them being blown up in a random strike. However if your opponent has enough military might to afford to nuke an otherwise barren patch of land, then you have probably lost anyway.

Well if you HIDE your silos well enough, you shouldn't have a problem dealing with pre-emptive strikes should you?

A tower+watchtower is REQUIRED around silos, else the enemy spies would spot it easily.
