I built my first ever spy and used it to place informers in an enemy barracks, market, and library. However I can't figure out how to access the information you are supposed to be able to get from the informer, ie, the number and type of enemy units, the amount of enemy resources, and the enemy research progress. I know I have the informers planted correctly because I've gained the line of sight of the buildings, plus when I click on the building it flashes the word "Informer". But I can't see what to click on to get the data. There must be something I am missing in the interface. Can someone please explain how to do this? Thanks.

You get the info directly from the UI. For military buildings that you have informed on numbers will appear on the icons on the left pane. This indicates the number of that unit that the enemy has in the world. For City Center when you select their city center THEIR economy will appear in the top left corner so you can see how many resources they have. For the library you see their library techs they have research and what they are currently researching.

Ok, I see it now for the military production buidings and for the library. The one in the market doesn't seem to work as advertised though. I don't think I'm seeing his resources. I tried placing one in the city instead, but I still didn't see his resources.Firaxis - please make an updated version of Colonization! That game was the best, even if it was a little un-PC.

It's not the market that will show his resources. Markets will only show what he is building there (Caravans or Merchants) and that is it. The Cities are the one that shows his resources. Again, you need to look in the TOP left corner when you select his city. You will notice the resources shown will change from yours to his. Then you can see all of his production.

Ok, I was able to try it again just now. I used a spy to plant an informer in an enemy city. I then clicked on the city, but the resource display on the top left did not change - it still showed my resources. The display on the bottom left did however show me how many citizens the enemy had. My next thought is maybe you need to infiltrate a farm for food, a woodcutter camp for wood etc. I'll try that.Firaxis - please make an updated version of Colonization!
