One... the auto transport, I like that its a great idea. Can have some killer island hop battles like this! The only time I seen auto transport used was in Disciples and I liked it there too.

Two... the airports. Much easier to get all your planes to land or scamble etc. Alot better control over aircraft in RoN then how it is in EE.

i concur whole heartedly. i didnt really read up on RoN too extensively, and when i saw my tanks turn into boats to cross a lake, i was throughly impressed.

do they take time to pack/unpack or is it instant?

I HATED how the air units worked in EE. It was freaking impossible to set up an organised attack.

Let me add a third... How troops are created in groups of 3 men. That is better, armies look more realistic now because there are alot of troops on the field. If you build just 3 units of troops there will be 9 men out there. Battles get more bloody thats for sure.

Yes, it nicely solves the scaling problem prevalent in most RTS - a tank is much bigger then a person, yet most RTS's count a tank and a person both as one pop point. RON doesn't.

Adding to my post here yet again... this time a fourth thing...

The bonus resources, the ones you send your merchants too. That is something new I have not seen in an RTS game yet. It reminds me how the CIV series has food, luxuries and other bonus terrains. Yet another feature I like

I agree that the bonus resources are cool. But that also points out one aspect of Civ that definitely didn't make it into RoN: terrain types. Sure there are mountains, forests, and water, but other than that terrain is irrelevant. It makes no difference if you play on a desert map or a tropical jungle map - you can still plop down farms and gain food anywhere. You have to consider terrain a little bit when placing cities, but so far there seems to be plenty of forests and mountains so it's not too important. Strategic placement of cities, ie, building towards the enemy or taking advantage of chokepoints, is much more important. In Civ it's all about finding the best spot based on surrounding terrain and the resources that terrain can provide, which makes it more strategic in my opinion.

I'm not complaining or saying it should be in RoN, just pointing out the absence of it.
Firaxis - please make an updated version of Colonization! That game was the best, even if it was a little un-PC.

And I AM complaining. It would be nice if we had to take into concideration terain. May be in expansion pack ...

Yeah, it would be cool if some units could move through forests and mountains. I haven't noticed too many major hills, but that may be a function of the maps that are in the game.

Actually the "terrain types" are different in the sense that the map types have different amounts of the various resources. Some maps have less metal, some less timber, etc....

doesnt anyone else think that this demo was released a bit too late.
i mean if they would have relased it a month of two ago we would have complained and *****ed about it and the creators could have actually changed something. now our *****ing is irrelevant so lets cut it to a minimum

oh wait one thing i want to ***** about...
the size of the cities! i think cities should look bigger and have more buildings in them... pweez

Yes I agree that the airplanes are much easier to controll. Anther thing I like, tanks are actually usefull and you want them in your army. Unlike EE were tanks were totaly useless. Also I think the graphics are much better then EE.
