A lot of the associated benefits seem unusual, to say the least. If you don't like it, I wonder if you'll eventually be able to mod it so it seems more realistic...

Regardless, I have the utmost faith in BR & co., so if he says Fur reduces the cost of Military tech, I'll swallow it (within the context of the game).

I would assume that only a few of the rare resources will be in each game. Can someone confirm?
About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. With a simple click daily at the Hunger Site you can provide food for those who need it.

It isn't that hard to imagine how an army could use fur and hides. They need clothing, tents, saddles, boots, etc. I think they did a pretty good job with the resources.

Does anyone know if these resourses are dependant on the 'age' you are in? I know oil isn't revealed until later in the game, and I would guess that something like Uranium isn't found until you can use it( have researched nukes). I didn't pay attention.

Some of them are aribitrary - kind of like the tech-unit relationships in some RTS games. Presumably in more for "gamey" reasons than realism.

                    Some are straightforward.

But Citrus for ship healing - that is like way cool
