    ENIAC was a trifle on the late side for WW2.



    As mentioned in the article, the mechanical options were either the Bush differential analyzer (see this big monster at http://cs.union.edu/~hemmendd/Encyc/...l/difanal.html ) or desktop calculators.
    If I'd known then what I know now, I'd never have done all the stuff that led me to what I know now...

      In the Pacific, they were used much more extensively for AA since there was much less chance of the Japanese picking up a dud shell of the bottom of the ocean.
      The Sophisticated fire control computer got they data from radar I believe. If the Jap have one it would not help against fast moveing small wooden hull PT MotorBoat. As radar mightnot pick then up or pick then up put give misleading data to the computer. It still took than good gunner with than good eyes and a good mind to hit something fast and small back then.
