  • Galaxy map oddity

    Did anybody else notice it?

The stars have large, medium and small icons.

The smaller icon stars, are supposed to be farther away from our point of view, and the larger icon stars closer... right??

Well then, check it out! Use the Home/End and Ins/PgUp keys to spin the map around...

    IT IS INVERTED!!!

Sounds like you've mentally mixed up rotating your viewpoint and rotating the galaxy you're looking at. Try thinking of it the other way around.

    (I don't have the game...)

      No.
I am sure I dont have them mixed. That is why I´m posting about it. I´m 100% the thing is inverted.
I am good at 3d modeling, so I can tell...
If you ever buy moo3, take a look...

I never rotate the map. All the stars get all mixed up if I do, and I loose orientation....

The do seem to be aligned quite well, no overlapping at all....

I do move the map a lot.

Just memorize how a couple of stars look (how far they are from each other, example: your homeworld and the two nearest ones)... then you should be able to return to this original situation. (if you can´t, save the game and load it)

Moving the map around gives you a great sense of dimension, space, and distances. Really immerses you into the game.
          Space is 3-dimensional, you know...?

But it´s a shame the distance thing with the icons is inverted.

I believe the small star are Dwarf star and the mediun star are normal star and the big one are giant star.

If you press "ENTER" when you're on the galaxy map, the view returns to what it was. Really nice.

The weird thing I thought was how the planets become bigger with more population.

Edit: Hang on.... was that MoO3 or GalCiv?

Maybe they run out of landfill space.

OK - I went and checked this. My map is definitely not inverted.

                    Anyone else?
