The Beta is just of the data patch, and only for a few days to make sure that the set of data changes play nicely with the release code.
As for what we are still doing, some of that is a little up in the air, as we are now somewhat date driven. We will probably not get all of these in, but there will certainly be other bug fixes or UI cleanup done as well.
We still need to make sure the AI is landing ground forces better and consolidating forces.
We want to make some adjustments to diplomacy to fix the war lapse problem and probably to reduce the number of wars (one of the AI's problems is being spread too thin and trying to fight too many wars at once) and fix some of the reported bugs involving duplicate or conflicting messages.
We want to make adjustments in HFOG and/or government changing to fix that problem.
We are looking at reducing the number of MOB centers, perhaps forcing a military DEA and/or a three jump separation.
We are looking at changing the Orion Senate election rules and making the other senate votes mean more, with some externalized parameters.
If we can work out the multi-player issues, we plan to allow general retreat while watching combat and controlling bombardment when you didn't control combat.
We want to change the planet AI so that it will build something if the user gave it directions, even when the AI thinks it is really stupid.
We want to compress the save games when they are being sent across the network in multiplayer.
We want to improve the documentation in the spreadsheets to make it easier to mod, removing unused tables and values and moving some hard-coded values to spreadsheets.
We will look at enabling chat in the end turn screen when you are waiting for other players.
We will look at a color choice UI and trying to make the AI players use different flags and colors than the human.
