  • some questions about ground combat

ok, im not here to rant, but the ground combat either has many bugs or im missing something here...

    1) my transport squadrons seem to disapear within a turn or so of landing the troops (im sure it's not from space combat). other fleets in the system remain fine... but the landing ones always dissapear

    2) is there any way to get troops onto ship without disbaning and redeploying? for instance, i finish invading a planet, and in the rare case my transport squadrons didn't mysteriosly vanish, the ONLY way to get them back onto the transports is redaploying them all (again, no casualties from space combat)

    3) finally, do militia regenerate? whenever combat lasts more than a turn, the enemies militia seem to gain back all their health (my troops, however, do not)

and an off topic question- is there anyway (aside from race features) to lower HFOG

    tnx

    1) As soon as your Troops land the Transport Ships are sent to the Reserves (i.e. they are first sent to a delay box, where they have to stay up to 5 turns before getting back to the reserves)

    2) No, there is no other way.

    3) Yes, they do. The Militia consists of conscripted Men from the population of the Planet you invade, which means that the number of militia troops is dependend on the Population of the planet and that Militia Troops can, in a certain way, regenerate by just drawing additional Soldiers from the Population.

You can lower your HFOG by simply changing governments. Each government change reduces it to the average of the current HFOG and 1, ie a HFOG of 3 will be reduced to 2. You can slow the HFOG growth rate with techs, opressometer and race picks.

WARNING - the AI doesn't change government to lower HFOG. You can give yourself a HUGE advantage this way.

If you don't like HFOG there are mods to turn it off for the AI players too.
