is this a sign that the game didn't do nearly as well as they were hoping? Games usually have the price stay higher than this for longer than this. All of those bad reviews must have hurt the interest in the game

        Htower,

        Your comments are right-on-target.

A decrease in price like this so early after release is a sign that the game is not doing well. Not that I'm surprised.

still other retailers are not following...

the 49.99$ price was not exactly regular anyway. the "normal" price is 39.99.....

the most probable is that the "regulation" of the price on amazon coincided with the mail-in rebate.

then again you can think what ever suits you

"Maybe", it WOULD have been worth "mentioning" that free shipping offer ONLY applies to inside-US shipments

So much for the "internationality" of this site....

BTW, in local (italian) shops, it is still out (US version) at 45€ (currently 48.5 US$)
            _______
HEY, while checking for actual shipment costs to Europe, I found out that
Toys, games, and video games can be shipped only to locations within the U.S., U.S. protectorates, and APO/FPO addresses.
THUS, it appear that all the games publicized here to be purchasable online from Amazon, ONLY APPLY to U.S. etc. as above.

ALL APOLYTONERS OUTSIDE U.S. appear to be INELIGIBLE for ANY Amazon Game Purchase!!!!

So much for completeness of information....

              OF COURSE,
I might need to admit and amend, that what I posted above is TRUE, but for Amazon.com only.

Europe customers should apply to Amazon.co.uk...
which not necessarily holds the same offers as the US based site.
This is NOT OBVIOUS to many Apolytoners, and I humbly suggest that it should be worth precising and mentioning everytime you publicize such online purchase offers.

              BTW, amazon.co.uk currently offers it still at 25£ plus ~4£ shipping to Italy (~40 + 6 US$)

                  True.

AFTER you've looked for a game at amazon.com at least ONCE, you get to know it.

So far, I bought all my games at local shops, and only purchased books (Ely's ones BTW) from amazon.com.
Thus it came as total news to me (and a rather appalling one too).

I figure it's not unusual for this site to attract new members everyday, and maybe some of them could be also new to online game purchase.

They'll bitterly find out on their own as I did now, but while you advertise some 3rd party sell offer, you'd provide an even better service to your community by adding a reminder to that purpose (e.g. "offer applies to US only"), or a link to a FAQ reporting it, if you find the task too tedious....

                    Mark,

Don't get the wrong idea. I actually like the game and 4X is my favorite genre. I've been playing MoO3 since it came out a few hours a day (busy schedule). I found a real lack of polish on this one (manual, UI, AI). But I like the game for some reason. I just think that I could have been much better, that is, it was not the MoO that I was expecting (although some parts were).

What I was agreeing with is the knock down price. This is a ploy by retailers when they have a large supply and demand is weak.

Although I bought it for $49.99 US, I saw an ad the next day for $36 US at a local retailer (Fry's) in Dallas. I think that Best Buy also had it for $39 US that week as well. This indicates to me that after the initial demand from pre-orders and the like, the demand decreased rapidly.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

                      MariOne,
                      point (already) taken....

                      btw,
you advertise some 3rd party sell offer
one cant "advertise" something and at the same time have the kind of coverage(news, reviews, open discussions) that we have. so please dont use in any way these kind of words in relation to the games we cover.

RPMisCOOL, i guess it depends on the retailer. online BestBuy has it still at 49.99

I've seen a few other places drop the price to $29.99 so that may soon be everyone's price. Wal Mart moved it off the new release rack two weeks ago.

The price will vary as than all game's store like EB must charge more to make than profit while Wal-mart can lower price as other item's they carry can make up the different .
Plus I donot stop at Wal-mart as the one around me are dirlty looking on the inside and their are paying off the health inspector as their are also selling food to eat also.
By the year 2100 AD over half of the world population will be follower of Islam.
