Being a software developer myself I can relate to the finished
product passing system testing and then be bathed in a number
of support calls raising numerous bugs.
But it does annoy me when I read forum threads and see people
pleading for the developers to help them explain how things
work, and never see a response from anybody at Quicksilver. I
know if I've developed something I become very sensitive to any
criticism of my work and I want to put things right.
The biggest problem with MOO3 as seen from dozens of reviews
and forum threads is the Manual. There probably woudn't be
half as many complaints if they wrote a proper Manual. The fact
that the readme file is twenty-odd pages long detailing tonnes
of errata shows you how out of date the manual was when the
product was finished.
Lets hope the developers are not replying to posts because they
are too busy doing a patch for the game. At least I hope it's that
and not that Infogames have released the game and now don't
want to spend anymore money and have hence told Quicksilver
to suspend all future work on MOO3.
Maybe I should check out galactic civilizations when it comes out !
