  • pirates!

    I have a game going as the Evon - my best game so far... the spies are cleaning up.
    I control Sssla - a wonderful system where all by 2 of its 8 planets started with Green2 or better, and all around good richness. I've colonized every planet in the system, and it now outproduces even my home system.
    Anywayz - I have a piracy problem in Sssla. I have my entire fleet in orbit (which is bigger than any other empire's fleet that I know). Something around 40 ships in total around the planet. The problem with the pirates is that the entire system revolts if I move away any of the ships. Each planet cites pirates as the main reason for the unrest. When the fleet is in orbit, the planets are fine.
    Will this go away eventually? Soon? I want to go to war with the Cynoids, but I can't move on them without all of this star system revolting.... :|
    Anyone else had this happen?

    Pirates are generated as a function of how many zones are in the system. They will never go away. The only way to combat them is to either keep a fleet there, build cheap system ships (it is not the quality of the ships but the combined hull size rating that stops pirates) or build a lot of planetary defences like beam bases and fighter bases.

        Planetary shields help too, quite a lot in my experience.

            Just build a few system ships. That takes care of the problem.

            I agree that bases seem optimal, but none of us really know what we're doing for sure yet

              Well systems ships get obsolete fast
              missle/beam/Superfighter bases autoupgrade
              granted they defend only one planet... but hey

                I don't think you can always build enough planetary defences to get rid of all the pirates in every system.

                  I am curious how much Pop/dea's/planets are needee to trigger Pirates.
                  Also how much 'Space' is needed to get rid of them..
                  Ahh Time will tell :=)
