Planetary Fighters v. Carrier Fighters

I've noticed that your planetary fighter seem to get upgraded (like your missile bases) with the latest technology. But fighters on a carrier do not... Is this correct. I remember reading somewhere (I forget now) that all fighters (Carrier or Planetary) are upgraded automatically.

Also, are ground troops upgraded automatically with new technology? Or are they stuck with the best weapons available when you created them?

I believe that all ground based forces and fighters are upgraded automatically.

Fighters are considered part of the weapons systems of the carrier, and are not updated any more than the direct fire weapons or missiles are.

Planetary fighters are upgraded, however.

What about ground troops?

Well, they are similar to system ships, and are allotted specific slots. You can set up troops into armies for defense, or package them for transport groups. However, they seem to get their upgrades automatically. They're still more akin to MOO2 in this regard.

If they didn't, my Raas troopers would have been doing a lot worse than they did. lol
