  • I think the AI has problems with group-building colony ships

If you group-build (5x,10x) colony ships it send them all to the same planet when you have main colony AI off and are using the 'marking method' - stamping colony/outposts in star systems beforehand. That is a major pain in the ass. Can someone tell me what is going on with that? Is it indeed a bug? thx

I once group build 10 colony ships, the AI sent them all to the same planet and the planet was almost filled to capacity after they all got dumped on it. The manuel reads no more colony ships should be add to a planets pop if the pop exceeds the required 1k. Yet, you can mass-build colony ships and almost fill all yer planets up after immediate colonization.

    Anyone have some thoughts here.

I've noticed this also and it is very frustrating. Same goes for system colonies. I once had 4 Green2+ systems and made 4 system colony ships to colonize them. I had computer colonization ON. because I was learning still and the computer deposited all the sys colonies on the same planet! This needs to be improved. Also, I've noticed that if you are building a colony in a system 5-turns-travel away and another on 10-turns-travel away, and you can produce a colony ship every 2 turns from 1 planet. It will not remember that you have a colony ship en route and will send two to the 5-turns-away system. The computer needs to know not only that a colony is requested, but also needs to remember when a ship is en route to colonize it.

Sounds like I'll be micromanaging the colony ships.
