  • Rescued Leaders?

How do I rescue a rescued leader? I have some ideas, and some things I tried, but maybe someone can just say it and I'll see what I am missing.

I got one in my first game.....I am not sure, but I think I had to colonize the planet first.....Moo2 you just had to enter the system with the leader, but I don't think that works in '3'.

Also, my second game, I STARTED with one....I guess it was a special on my homeworld.

OK, I have plopped an outpost on one and still didn't get em. Does this mean I have to send hordes of colony ships and colonize the planet before I get the leader??

I have three planets in my area with rescued leaders and they are ALL Red 2 to me (Humans).

Think it works just like Magnate Civs - you need 1000+ population to get them.

Separate question: if you have 4 leaders already can you get the option for a 5th to join or do you have to have a slot open?

IMHO leaders are a bit too easy to kill w/ spies...

Have to have the slot open per the manual. I haven't had that many yet to find out.

Right. If you have 4 leaders, no leaders will offer to join.

I had a recued leader in one game, he simply shows up on that turn in your personnel folder.

              ACK!

OK, now this is getting crazy. I finally just COLONIZED a Red 1 planet to get the rescued leader and STILL I don't have him/her/it. The ONLY thing I can think of now is that I have to build something in the region he is at. This is insane. The read-me simply says:

                RESCUED LEADER
A leader has been marooned on this planet and will join your civilization if you find him or her 1st.

Duration of this Event in Turns is 1
Well, I sure as hell found him or her "1st" (who taught this person grammar?) and have spent over a hundred game turns trying to get him or her.

As stated in my other thread, this is insane. NO ONE knows how to play this game! No one can ever seem to answer each other's questions! What are the red Erlenmeyer flasks in the research matrix? The red Erlenmeyer flasks have become my symbol for what is wrong here. Several thousand players, dozens of views of the thread, and no one knows what the flasks mean! An icon (and there are so precious few of them), and it is never explained, never indicated, and NO ONE knows what it is for!

                Sheesh.

(Can you tell this is frustrating?)

If you are describing the little red flasks in the greyed out entries in the tech matrix, I'm pretty sure that's an advance with a prerequisite in anoter branch of reasearch. Seemed clear to me.

Yes, a red flask means it has another preresrequite. Check each tech with it, some like Astro University will say "Requires Math Level 6" or something similar, once you reach the required level the flash goes away and you can research it i'm assume. It seemed pretty straight forward, only techs with multiple requirements had it.

Wonderful. Now all I need to know is how to "rescue" a "rescued leader."

Granted, I hijacked my own thread, but finding this out was nice, since no one replied significantly to the thread I made about the flasks.

Sorry, I didn't see that thread. But I believe so long as you arrive in the system first its automatic. He'll just join you. What would be useful is the special no longer showing on planet if its been used, think thats causing some confusion.

be the first to enter the system with a marooned leader. i'm 99.999% sure on this one

i've obtained leaders after entering a system with the rescue leader special. they appear the following turn in the personel tab IIRC

i've also gotten one from the home system at the start of the game, but the rescue leader special was not on my home planet.

other times when I've entered a system with that special, I didn't get the leader, so I presume the AI got the leader first

                            Ah, how continuously counter-intuitive

Ok, so the next (obvious) question is why do those planets still say they have a rescued leader even thought the enemy picked them up eons ago?

It is just informative and a hold over from Moo2.
