  • Leaders - Are they an improvement?

    From MOO2 that is?

In MOO2 you could choose to pay or not pay a leader as they came by your homeworld to offer thier services...

Does MOO3 improve on this by maybe having the option to get into a bidding war for the services of leaders?

Can you bribe other leaders or pick them up when conquering other planets?

Can you assign leaders to Task Forces or specific planets? Or maybe to particular regions of your domain (like a cluster of 4 planets here for one leader and a cluster of 3 planets over there for the other)?

The leaders are a bit limited, they can't be assigned to planets or added to task forces. You have a council of 4 leaders max. The two ways i've aquired leaders is by them coming to me, and the marooned leader planet special. Only certain leaders have upkeep as their downside, others will increase unrest instead. Other then that they seem to be well done and useful, being able to hire from a pool of leaders would be nice though.

you just get leaders out of the blue. If you want to get more leaders you need to leave 1 spot free.

I can't say since all my leaders get assasinated like 2 turns after they have been hired.

I am building spies like mad to try to counter them but its no good....

Any way to speed up the process of getting leaders?

Dunno why they come so rarely. I've played two games now and i've seen only three leaders.

Loknar, some harvester woman and cha cha or what his name is (the one who was in the screenshots)

Overall they weren't that good i hope better exist.Science +20% - LOKNAR. Is this good or not so good?

In MOO2 the benfit of the leader either effect one system or task force, but in MOO3 the leader effect your entire Empire.

My first game, I started out with a leader, which I thought was interesting. Peaked at three, now I'm down to none. Don't think they got assassinated, I think they just died of natural causes. But I'm not sure.

I remember saying when they changed Alan's leader system it was a mistake and i have been proved right, in emrich's vision you had military and naval commanders that could command armies and with each having different skills etc, a bit like E.U2 .but the present one's are crap they have a pointless story and +10 industry bonus, plus you only have 4 this is step back from moo2 in the leader department IMO.

Can't really say if they are better or worse yet. The fact that they affect your entire empire makes them somewhat more powerful. The unrest and %cost is a higher cost than moo2.

I personally kind of like the empire-wide effects.

                        HA!

These leaders are CRAP! Sorry They can only have three affects. On a few of them you can see flavor text where an effect obviously had to be TAKEN OUT because it went over the three limit, and the flavor text didn't even get updated. Gotta love it..... Anyhow, no matter how many things I do to protect them, my enemies swarm of spies poisons them within 4 turns anyhow.

espionage is definetly kinda screwy. i constantly get conflicting reports aobut what my spies are doing. so mostly i've been ignoring it so far. I hope they fix the spies in a patch or something.

I haven't lost any leaders yet, (thoguh i'm only on turn 84 of my first game) but then, I do have a lot of spies just sitting around at home. Does anyone know if spies at home will do counter espionage?

They're suppose to (and apparently do) although I do not know if it takes a social spy at home to counter an invading social spy, or whether any spy at all will be able to do the counter-espionage job for any enemy missions......

It would be nice if the leaders gained in experience (that is if they live long enough ). I haven't noticed if they did yet. Also, from what I see and hear from others is that the spies seem to dominate more than their share of the action.
