  • Senate Trade Agreement

    Hello,

    I was looking at Dan's latest preview installment and he was talking about Senate Trade and making trade agreements within the Senate.

    What about a "Trade Senate" ala Dune? I know it would change the balance of play but it architecturally all you'd have to do is mirror the Senate functionality. You would have to join the "Trade Senate" in order to trade with it. It would have it's own ships and everything. Er, maybe that would be too hard to implement having two senates but think how cool it would be.

    Winter/Spring 2002....the huge redesign of MOO3 occurs, many many cuts made, leadership change in the MOO3 project.

    September 2002 getting "close" to finished...october 2002 release date.

    October 2002: need more time....Nov 27 release date

    late Nov 2002: just a bit more.... adding more "very"'s onto how soon it is every day now! Dec 4 release date..

    Dec 2002.....release date missed, Chantz says "no more release dates until its DONE" Chantz authorizes the Betatesters to start posting their thoughts on the game....AARs are born.

    late Dec, early Jan 2003: Rantz says he will "be shocked to the point of a heartattack striking him dead" if it takes longer than to Feb 28 for the game to come out. Thus is the "heartattack date" born.....

    December through January: Regression testing cycles are cut to 1 week, with the Betatesters constantly getting newer and better builds. Quicksilver has been in code lock for some time now, adding no new feautres, only tweaking things for balance issues and fixing bugs.

    Jan 24, 2003: The Gold announcement!! The game goes to production, it'll be out in a month.

    early February.....Apolyton reveiws finish

    Feb 13, 2003: booje suggests that we need to have a "trade senate" like in Dune. It wont be too hard to have two senates will it! This suggestion rocks the gaming world! Moo3 is recalled, completely redesigned!! New testing ensues...new coding. People are hired back to Quicksilver to implement and test this. The gold copy and all the produced CDs, manuals, etc are destroyed. A new building and testing and regression testing cycle begins.

    August 2003: Moo3 is finally released, with 2 senates, one of them the new Trade senate..........Oh if ONLY the suggestion for the trade senate had been made OVER A YEAR AGO

        well then, thats a whole different ballgame isnt it

        Really though, the Orion Senate serves the purpose of facilitating trade, among other things it also does.

        Once the game finally comes out (grr), we will see, and see just how the senate works

          Given the track record, I'd say that estimate is a bit optimistic.
          By working faithfully eight hours a day, you may get to be a boss and work twelve hours a day.
