Interesting comment. From what I have read, this is the biggest reason the game was delayed last year.

The strategy guide is necessary, because many of the strategies I've used were helpful. Plus, the manual doesn't list the techs - deliberately - the guide does.

Yet another game manual sold as the "strategy guide"

I suppose the "game manual" could then, in reality, more properly be referred to as the "background history guide"....

JonahFalcon, anything in the pdf that is not in the manual?

Wrong, yet again. The strategy guide does NOT tell you HOW to play. It only gives STRATEGIES.

You can play MOO3 very very well without the guide, but you'd never be able to play without the manual.

No, the .pdf is identical to the manual.

Strategy guides are definitely getting more and more useless, I'm thinking about putting out a one-page strategy guide of my own that has only one line:

the http address of Apolyton's strategy forum.

Think I can get people to shuck out $20 for that at Barnes and Noble?

I'm a reviewer, and got a copy for review.

                      I'd personally suggest 2 lines:

The line other than the one you suggested would be:

Does MoO3 have something like a "civilopedia" in-game or do I actually have to buy the strat guide then, to get a list of the techs, the power of the various guns etc? Actually look at the Civ3 manual - big, but only tells you very basically how to play the game, and not how it works.

Crap. Sounds like I might be forced to avoid MOO3 in order to get anything done!

Rantz has repeatedly stated his goal of destroying our social, educational, and professional lives with this game

Well, I consider it payback for flunking college courses due to the original Civ and Castles games. Hopefully someone will flunk classes due to MOO3 and go on to a lovely career in games...
