I rarely defend Rantz, in fact I've often been critical of his anti-fan tendencies.
However, are you guys seriously criticising him for not knowing off hand *exactly* where the option is to turn off anti-aliasing? I'm beginning to see what he means about being sick of getting flamed for trying to help!
It's like asking tech support how to view hidden files in windows explorer, then flaming them for saying 'It's in either tools->preferences, or view->options'.
At least Rantz didn't say RTFM!

but, please, a person who has the approval or confidence to talk about the details of the game ought to know the details.

If you are going to post, know the answer or details.
especially if you are the programmer.
I'm the creative director for MOO3, that means, art/design/music/writing... a lot of things, but no programming. There are a TON of oprions in MOO3 (windowed mode being a perfect example) that we had in for our own internal tests.
When it came time to put together the list of which options would be 'tweakable' by the player, it was the LAST screen we worked on, (after the beta had started even, I believe) and we had been working 60-80 hour weeks, so forgive me if I don't, off the top of my head know which options we decided to put in the 'user accessible' options.
the 'details' of the game are complex enough that I don't think that any one person on the team knows all the answers off the top of his or her head. There is a LOT of stuff going on in MOO3, for example I'm sure that if you asked the guys who coded ship combat what the planetary development AI looks for as priority items, and what weights have a relative effect on it, it's doubtful they'd know that off the top of their heads.
Next time I don't know off the top of my head, I'll not post, ok? Having a better day now?

Gratitude goes a long way. Bash the game, bash the distributor, bash the developer. Don't bash the only person involved in the game that's willing to post in any of the forums. I don't always agree with Rantz but I wouldn't know if he stopped posting.
i never said you had to know off the top of your head.
since your are the sole "official" representative for the game here, i just thought it would have been wiser to research the answer to the question, instead of saying it may be here or may be there.
especially for whoever posed the question...who most likely would have liked to know if it was an easy to access option or if it was in some obscure file.
thats all.
sorry if i came off rude.
the real thrust of my posts was trying to understand how some people point out that rantz is just the art director, so don't expect him to know too much, yet at the same time people take him very seriously about any details he gives.
but whatever
While there might be a physics engine that applies to the jugs, I doubt that an entire engine was written specifically for the funbags. - Cyclotron - debating the pressing issue of boobies in games.
Just to clear the air. vee4473 I wasn't trying to single you out. I have noticed in many threads that anytime Rantz is nice enough to take the time to share what he can he gets flamed for his trouble. I admit I'm new the the forums but that just doesn't seem appropriate. I am sure Rantz has other things to do. If there is something that begs to be clarified fine, but there's no need to flame somebody for not giving an exact description of how one supplementary option was implemented in a complex game.
