  • There will be a patch for MOO3

after reading about how QS is laying off and no patches will out I just wanted to add my two cents worth.

I can't remember where but somewhere on this or the other forum on of the Devs(or what ever there names are I forgot) said they might include renaming systems in a future patch once they get feedback from us once we play the game.

While I remain confident that sufficient staff will remain to produce any needed patches (perhaps not all the desirable frills that might have crept in, but certainly bug fixes) what a Dev said a while back could easily be overridden if the company was in financial trouble.
To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

They layed off the HOMM4 staff just before it was released but there's still been patches since. I think they rehire them for temp work as needed rather than full-time.

Hopefully MOO3 won't need a patch for "bugs", at least not right away. There may be a patch for "game balancing", we'll just have to wait and see.

One of the things that WILL be included in a patch is pop up items that inform you why you can't do something. Just FYI.

All games need patches for bugs as well as balancing. The only question is how severe the bugs are that need to be fixed.

Nice to know JF. I just hope it makes it out fast so that the tooltips are there for our first fumbling steps.

I think I would worry more about IG. The company stock is around $2.50. They delay shipping a game that will probably be their most popular game this year (at least 1st quarter). I wouldn't be surprised to see IG go bankrupt this years. Hopefully they will sell the rights to MOO to another game publisher. Let’s face it, if MOO3 is as good as it looks, all the credit goes to QS, and another publisher can pick them up to develop patch for MOO3 and start working on MOO4.
