  • got graviton, now what?

I would like to hear comments about what people choose for ships once gravitons are acquired (assuming you ever acquire them).

For instance, there is a big thread on using missles. How long do you use them before going to beam ships? It seems as soon as the computer get neutrons he outfits his ships with heavy ones and shoots down my small missle boats before they get a second shot off.

I stay with missles until I get Automatic / AP mass drivers. Usually some of my missle boat fleet survives into the "beam era", and I use them for slamming planetary defenses while my beam ships take out the enemy fleet and starbase.

I think it depends of what type of computers you have researched at this time. If you got good computers you should use gravitons, if not you should stay with missiles.

Yes for non creative, the lack of computers is a big factor. It is no fun to see those beams miss.

which computer do you get then? I typically go for positronic. Your bases need computers too right?

I also like AP AF mass drivers as creative. But usually I select the class 1 shield when not creative. Is this a bad move on my part?

If I am not creative I don't get graviton (unless I steal it), so I use lasers (with battle scanner) until I get phasors. I will toss continous neutron blasters on battleships for missile and marine killing.

I only use missiles if I need them for taking down planetary defence.

If I am creative I have all the computers so I use gravitons as soon as I get them.

I agree with GV, except as creative, I may not get around to garvs before I get another beam, depends on if I am at war or not. The shield is a hard choice, because the Class I shield does so little, but I do not often use jammers.

You take Battle Scanner over Tachyon Communications? I find that TC really helps me afford a decent sized fleet.

Using lasers all the way to phasors... That would be different than what I've done in the past. I'll try it.

xoham, I use to take taccom as well to get th comand points, but I rely on planets and bases now. Getting the battle scanner is a big boost to beam ships. You always have to give up something as a non creative race. That is what spies are for. That is why as a non creative, it can be painful to use the -spy. You have a hard time getting enough boost to over come it.

Gravitons? Isn't this in MoO instead of MoO 2?

Gravitron beams are in both games. It comes under Artifical Gravity (systems). It inflicts 3-15 pts with any that gets passed armor having an additional 50% done to structure.
