Rantz,
Nothing has been said here in a while. Just a quick question about the game, story and what not, well what is it?
By that I mean, I am not a follower of MOO, but I have liked some of the discussed features. But what is the story? Maybe you don't want to deal with me because I should read your site, but I have and I am confused as to what the story is. Or is that the point there is no story, just space civilizations?
I really am not trying to troll here. I just would like to know because that would seem to be a good start as to what I feel the moo3 trailer probably should have contained.About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. With a simple click daily at the Hunger Site you can provide food for those who need it.

I have not seen the trailer, but the game is standard 4x game set in space. The new twist is to be adding another X for experience. So to some degree you can say it is civ in space, at least that is what the first two were. I have avoided the trailer as I want to see the game without the previews.

There is nothing in the trailer that especially relates to the game, vmxa...."The number of political murders was a little under one million (800,000 - 900,000)." - chegitz guevara on the history of the USSR.
"I think the real figures probably are about a million or less." - David Irving on the number of Holocaust victims.

A trailer is supposed to relate to the game and get people to want to purchase the game. I just think that the trailer should be more indicative of what is to come with MOO3.About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. Perhaps it is the guardian. Didn't even consider that, frankly. But it's still staple SF spacewar fare, so vmxa has nothing to fear in the way of spoliers by downloading it."The number of political murders was a little under one million (800,000 - 900,000)." - chegitz guevara on the history of the USSR.

:::snipped::: But what is the story?
It's pretty vast and complex. The backstory bible is about 70-some pages. and a lot of that information will be 'seeded' throughout the game for the player to discover as they play.
It's been argued by some that they don't want a ridgid story in their TBS game... well, the sotyr isn't ridgid, it's different each time the player plays the game and you might play the game 30 times without ever getting *all* the pieces to the backstory and the true nature of the Orion sector.
So, it's a little hard to do a brief summary. In MooII you fought other races, as well as the 'evil' race that was a NPC race called the antarans. In MOOIII, the majority of the Antarans have mysteriously disapeared, and the remainder have refashioned/packaged themselves as the 'New Orions' in an effort to maintain control over the Orion sector. Races have been wiped out since MOO2 and races have been discovered.
that's kinda the closest I can get to the 'cliffs notes' of the story.Rantz Hoseley

Cool, I am ready. But then, I would buy anything called Master Of Orion, maybe even if it was RTS (well that could be pushing it).

Ok, thanks Rantz. I had tried to read some of that but it is just so long and was not getting any where. I appreciate it.About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. With a simple click daily at the Hunger Site you can provide food for those who need it.
