    Vmxa1,

Just out of curiousity, just how many complete games of Moo2 do you think that you have done?

That was your biggest post to date...I hope that I did not stike a nerve or something. I have to admit that I've been doing more talking about playing than actually playing. Man, gaming is soo limited when you have to work 50. Right now I'm taking a strategy break with Deus Ex. I also have GTA3 sitting on the shelf unopened. It might be a few weeks before I'm in the stategy mood again (I'm that way most of the time, but just need a break to try something new)

FPS are cool, but I'm really bad at them. Just do not have the twitch anymore. Do not like RTS at all. RPGs are cool, but so not think that I could get into the on-line versions.

Anyway, given any starting position, what is you fav and why?

      vmxa1, Isn't UniTolCreative 24 points?

I usually take telepathic so I agree with it's power I probably prefer that to creative, although that's mostly just due to the ease of conquest. It makes the endgame so so quickly.

I also like Cybernetic, the repair ability give you a great advantage in early game combat.

Whoops, another finger check. That is what I get for being up so late. It should be Tele, not Tol.

I would never take uni with creative. You are wasting all the morale buildings and improvements you get access to with creative.

RPM, nah I just put in some thoughts (or lack). You want me to expose my self as the lazy gamer that I am? The truth is I have no idea. The board has given me incentive to play more than I otherwise would and in the last few months I have played scores of games of Moo2, sick huh. I got the game day 1 and have played off and on every since. I can say I have not played as many games of Moo2 as Moo, which is around 2000. I played everyday the first two years and nearly so the next 3 at work.
I can't play any of the 3D games, due to motion sickness and I am so mad. I have bought many, but I just can't take it. Morrowind is sitting on my HD now. I can play things like BG/BGII though and Diablo2. I usually squeeze in some RTS games and then go back to either Moo/Moo2 or Heros. I just got Aow2 and tried it yesterday, but it has not grabbed, funny since I really liked AoW. I will try it again soon. I like to see what others have to say and see if I can incorporate anything new or that I over looked or had not tried.

Garth, I would not either. It was just a race that someone was tauting, so I gave it a whirl. I am not fond of Uni anything, due to the 1 in 20 assimilation. In the ones I have tried it does not seem to produce well, which is strange as it has all those boost???? UniTel works, but it would work without the Uni part. If I want Crreative, I would consider Demo.

                Uh Hello

Anyway, given any starting position, what is you fav and why?

In other words, which starting choices led to the most enjoyable games. I'm keeping in mind that early conquest may be enjoyable to some, while others like the big battles.

To tell you the truth, I have been playing so many games using other peoples, that I no longer have one of my own. That said: fun is DemoCreative as you get all the tech and demo has lots of boost. I am now giving a run to Feudal as a Feudal, Tel Creative. This was posted as a plus 1 research and ship attack with - ground combat on a large map with adv tech, 8 plyers imposible level. This did not add up, so assumed they meant to add -spy. Anyway that is really a tough race, so I dropped the +R and ship attack and added +prod and I forget the rest. Anyway this has been a war from day1 as I launched the BB's you start with at my nearst race. Removed all sci, but one pop to up production. Got a good jump, but war is never ending and only one race has not decalred on me. I am barely able to defend and can not expand after the fisrt rush to get 4 systems. It is fun though. I am getting good tech now as I have the captured planets up and running and added some labs and super comps. I am now dropping in the Interdictors, so I will soon have a chance to expand and defend again, I hope.

                    Vmxa1,

                    1. Sorry don't post much on the weekends.
                    2. So the most enjoyable type of game for you is to climb out of the basement?

Maybe not the most enjoyable, but the most rewarding, once I pull it off. I miss the fun of getting all of the tech and doing anything you want when Creative and getting past the very early part. I am now getting used to heavy stealing and the pleasure of getting a much needed tect, sort like what I do in Moo1. Yesterdays game as Uni Aqua Repulsive was a good example as I was in a hole and steal a ton. Stole Z-armor followed soon by Planetary missile base. Those made it so I could send out my ships.

Just oputa curiosity, do any of you think its cheap to take creative, warlord and lithovore. That is one of my favorite races. I don't take the psilon portrait cause in just about every game i played, the were always my last enemy.

By cheap do you mean too easy? Anyway I am not one of those that thinks creative is a lock. It is at low levels, but to me at Impossible level against the AI, there are no locks. It is true that after the mid game, it get to be a romp, but most games are anyway at that point. Creative cost 8 picks and that hurts. The only thing it does for you is to make it so you do not have to think about what techs to choose, it will not stop the AI from runnning over you if they are close by with a strong race. If you get in a corner and the nearest is peaceful, then you get a running start. You also do not have to spend time and resources to steal, you get everything anyway.

                            Yeah,

But I always get to a point where some of my planets have built everything and I have all the ships I can support, so I just switch everyone to research and build spies.

Abeit, every once in a while I have to switch to build a ship, but I'll end up with quite a few spies. If I picked creative, then what would I/you build??

Well that depends, a new colony would be first choice, if I could. If I can not expand at that time, then I would drop everyone not need to make food to research, except one. One planet I would nearly always have making spies until the game was close to the end. Creaive does not mean research heavy perse, but you do want to push it. Research races have +sci. The big edge to me is that getting all tech, you gain things that boost prod/spy/food and things, that you would not have otherwise and that lets you pass other races eventually, unless they are really much larger than you. I may also refit any ships or maybe scrap old smaller ones so I can build larger ones if I am at my command point cap. I will spy on others if they have things I do not have yet and I am at war with them, otherwise why take a chance just to get it a little earlier? You could send ships to sit on a planet that you are at war with, but can not bust. The cool part of Moo2 is that everything depends, to some degree. There are certain fundamentals, but your race and the universe layout all have a chance to alter what you do.

Well, I have to admit that my favorite was creative. You guys talked me out of it, but me thinks that I going back.

Oh, and I have planets that are retrofittin, some building new ships, and some building colonies....there are still some left over for spies.....Actually, I prolly need them for defense since I tend to gain the tech lead.
