    allright, this time i hope my message will be posted!

    this is about winning without any researcher. here is the race

    lithovorous, industry +1, spying +1, charisma, feodality, science -1, ground combat -1

    the strategy is:

    no farmers, no scientists, workers only
    build outposts before colonies to get fast marines barracks
    be friendly with all races to get some useful RPs, BCs and non-aggression pacts, but no alliance
    carry the research with heroes and automated labs.
    at the begining, spy on repulsive ones that cannot reach your empire
    never stop builing ships and spies
    when your fleet is larger, start spying on the weakers. they will not complain too much.
    focus the research on improving spying, pop. growth, confederation, income, command points, and devices that the others do not have

    the drawbacks are
    - really hard if the games starts at pre-warp
    - being attacked at the very begining
    - the elimination of an empire is bad for research!

    i will enjoy some feedback and comments. it will help me improving this strategy

      That could be a fun challenge. I wish I could get to it, but I have Homm4 to finish and then MM9. The advanced tech is something you choose, so selec pre-warp if you don't want it.
