  • Beyond the Hall of Fame

Well, you've finished you 49th game and all you have to show for it is no girl friend and a list of ten numbers in decending order.

We need some new ideas here. Certainly an expanded hall with more information about your victories, some descriptive accolades are in order. A list of achievements. Trophies.

Some kind of reward that persists from game to game?

I just feel that we need to evolve the reward system. Any ideas?

    Pat on the Back

Make a mechanical hand that is USB compatible that will give you a pat on the back, or sell the games on e-bay?

I think one of the nicest reward systems i've come across in a game was the one in Microprose's 'Pirate's'(a Sid game), It was very hard to get the top rewards, but basically the game had a few variable's like how many of your family you had rescued during the game, wether you were married(in game!) or not(and wether your wife was hot or not!-really), how much wealth you had attained and your Fame level.Stuff like this. And at the end when you retired it gave you a brief overveiw on your life and a rank like Begger(very bad) or Governor(very good). It's one of the few games that made me feel like all the effort had been worth it.
So something like that in Moo3 would be great, rather than just a plain old score.......'Duke of the Human colonies, Daring in battle but hated by the Meklars...'etc, with some nice graphics and music to set the scene?

A combination of Unreal Tournament's trophy room ( and the movie presentation ) + a reworked and a more refined SMAC's Hall of Fame can be a good start......

While i do not have much to add in the way of game details, i will let everyone know that there is a Hall of Fame at the Orion Sector website (www.orionsector.com). The stats in it now are from the tournament simulation and are completely fake. The HoF there will be split into three sections: Tournament, Multipayer, and Single Player with "on your honor" submissions for single player scores.

Getting a MOO3 score might be a little more interesting when you can compare it to the rest of world's.

Yeah, considering that more and more people around the globe have access to the Internet!
