  • Release 5/29/02 per Gone Gold

I just looked at Rich's release dates on gonegold.com and he has Moo3 as the end of may, either 29th or 31st (forgot exact date). I mention this only has his track record is better than most. The only problem is that warlords 4 is out the same day. I will get both, but which one to play first? Nah, Moo3 is first.

      Release Date?

Does anybody know how long the second quarter lasts (what day is the last that a Q2 2002 release would be). I would assume it to be May 31, but that is based on math, not knowledge.

        Re: Release Date?

        LordEd asks:
Does anybody know how long the second quarter lasts?
Each quarter lasts 3 months, so Q2 would be April - June.

(I like the "quarter" system much better than the "seasons" system that some northern-hemisphere software companies like to use for release dates. I live in the southern hemisphere so my seasons are not the same: "A Spring 2002 release? You mean I have to wait until September?" Quarters avoid this ambiguity.)

Here's the tentative release date from GoneGold.com:

None, Sedentary, Roving, Restless, Raging ... damn, is that all? Where's the "massive waves of barbarians that can wipe out your civilisation" setting?

I'm waiting eagerly for it, but I wonder if I shouldn't wait two more months after the release before I buy it.

Usually, computer games still contain numerous bugs and are a pain to play until patch after patch come up. It seems the beta-testing phase is quickly skimmed through to sell faster.

What is the records of the company making MoO3?
            Are my fears unfounded?

I am not shure about the record of the company for bugs but when MOO2 came out I couldn't play it in window, had to play in DOS until the patch came out, but that could be, because windows was new back then.

I don't think from reading the posts from Stormhound that we won't have anthour Civ3 fiasco.

There will probably be some bugs as in all computer games but I think hopefully there won't be any major ones.

Question, how come there are now bugs in console game? Don't tell me that they are made for one console and not alot of different computers. I can understand for crashes on different computers but when it involes game play, that is what I don't understand. Don't companies QA test anymore?

Is Quicksilver QA testing the game now?

For key titles such as Moo any number, I will buy day one and if it has too many bugs, will put it aside until they are fixed. Secondary titles, I will wait a bit to see if people are saying it needs a patch. Other titles, I just wait for the mood to strike, usually when they are at fire sale prices.

Interestingly GG also seems to rate that release date as fairly solid, and they're pretty reliable. Unusual for a release date still a couple of months away...

                    Bugs

As for me, I would purchase the game regardless. Any bugs should hopefully not detract from the gameplay in the brief interlude between being noticed and being fixed. These major bugs should be noticed, oh wait, what about Civ III

On the other hand the Civ III manual has:

                      MOO3: First Contact begins Q1 2002

Its a choice, an early release or some bugs

I'd like to point out that the date posted on Gone Gold is just a guess and nothing more. It's an educated one, but still just a guess. So don't be amazed if it's 'early' and don't be crestfallen if it's 'late.'

And how are those events going? Still getting any from the fans? Or the team has already stoped accepting them to test those who were?
