  • Where's the MOO3 website?

The MOO3 website (http://moo3.quicksilver.com) doesn't seem to be working, nor is the Quicksilver website (http://www.quicksilver.com). Do I have the URL's wrong, did the sites move, or are they just on the fritz? Anybody know?

It appears that you are right - the server is apparently down.

I did not in the past know of a moo3.com website. However there apparently is one, it appears that it forwards the user on to moo3.quicksilver.com. It is of course seemingly down. Maybe they have a ton of new information for us.

Still down. Oh no. Maybe this means they went under. Argh!

It's been down for quite a bit now, over the weekend it didn't work for me either.

But they did release new screenshots to gamemag sites, so all is not lost, they're still working even if the webpage isn't

Its not back up for me. I guess this is a false alarm.

Try again. I've been looking at it off and on for the past week.

Oh I have too. Look at the date I made that post, it wasn't back yet.

But the question is: Does it work for you now?

I'm sorry, I thought that it was clear in my post above but evidently it was not.

Is the site up for me? YES.

                        Hope that clears it up.

BTW its an awesome site I think, even better than the civ3 one.
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

Definitely better than Civ III. MOO3's site makes me want to play a game that I have little history in and wants me to play it very badly. Tons of information that intrigues me.

Civ III meanwhile is light on the game dynamics and it is only a month and a half from release. And no modern shots.

Thanks. The MOO3 site...and most especially the forum...has been something of an experiment, and overall quite a successful one. Alan wanted to be able to gather ideas from the broad community, and actually be able to hash some of them out with the people who'd be playing the game. Certainly not everything that everyone suggests makes it in, but the good ideas that don't conflict with the design and its philosophy have largely been accepted. As ambitious as the design of MOO3 is, it was probably necessary to do it this way...and there have been a lot of happy fans as a result.

Of course, my opinion may be somewhat biased, since my own career as a game designer began when I got on the MOO3 Forum and started posting my own ideas, and ended up impressing the heck out of QS to the point that they hired me...so I guess I'm inclined to think that the forum was a very good move, eh?
If I'd known then what I know now, I'd never have done all the stuff that led me to what I know now...
