  • New to MOO3 with a few questions

I had played MOO1 and 2. Out of being bored with WOW I am now playing MOO3.

Is there currently any way to refit ships like you could in MOO2?
Also I am trying to jump start colonies like I did in MOO2... what ways are there (like pumping in coin and popluation)?

I have not played since the first month it came, out. I am pretty sure you could make an upgraded design and have the ships upgraded at a colony, but I could be confused with Galciv. In GC2 you can upgrade any place iirc.

    Try this site:

I believe you can, I can't remeber, just reinstalled the game myself and giving it anthour go.

try the atari forums for MOO III surprisingly there are some people still there, and they are veterans witch can give you great advice.

Great advice on the site as well so go check it out.

You can not refit a ship.

You can land more colonies on a planet until every region has population on it. Likewise the planetary grant system will give money to such systems which they then proceed to largely burn off to get slightly ahead.

The optimal thing you can do for a planet is to land colonies there until it won't let you anymore, then terraform completely(teraform rules are different from everything else, if you have the money you can spend it at full efficiency), then build all the industrial DEAs on the planet that you want and including atleast 1 government DEA, then let it build everything else.

          You can 'refit'.

Go to ship creation screen. Load your design to be changed,, Alter it,, Save it as something new.. ie Mk.II
Then clear the queue's of the original and make it obsolete. Now your ai will build the new version instead. Just make sure you have your empire set up for war, with a healthy amount of finance put in it etc etc.

I doubt that many consider that a refit. In Moo2 you can make a new design from an old one. Then bring the old ship to a base and retrofit it with the new design.

IOW I may have a battleship with 6 mass drivers. I make a new design and it now has 11 mass drivers or some other weapon instead. I can upgrade or retro fit the old ship and increase my power.

Making a new design and the old ships are unchanged, is just making the old ships obsolete.
