wth? how did this war happen?
I was planning on playing a game where I avoided provoking wars as much as possible and would attempt to win the galactic popularity contest. However, at turn 28 one turn after agreeing to a defensive alliance with me, a nommo empire which was at war with a grendarl empire I was also at war with and at peace with all other factions abruptly announced it was at war with me! WTH? I had given them gifts, I was not crowding them in, I was at war with their enemy and I was on rough parity with them for military strength. Why in gods name would they go to war with me? what could I possibly have done wrong?
the save game is here along with 3 earlier autosaves. turn 28 is the turn at which my would be allies decided to wage war on me.

Here's a much later save at turn 87
At this point my low cb 'allies' have decided to pick a fight with the NO's and are inviting me to join them, but with shields at only class 2 it's looking as if it's going to be harder than ever to retain my alliances.
