  • Patch Problems

Hi, I've been playing MoO2 on an XP system for some time with no problems. But when I yesterday tried to install the patch 1.31, (That's the lates official patch, right?) I get this error: "RACESTUF.LBX [entry 8] exceeds number of LBX entries" and the game exits.
Anyone know what's going on here? I don't have a clue.

As a side note, would someone be interested in playing a democracy / succesion game of Moo2? Never done it, could be fun. I want to be the Minister of War

    Try this 1.31 patch here:

    ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/patches/moo2/moo2v131.zip

    This 1.31 patch should work.

(a few days ago....some other mooer had exactly the same problem...but he used some other 1.31 patch...)

U should also try the 1.4 patch (if u dont have 2k where only the win version orion95.exe works). It generates a new exe....so u can still play 1.31. (but i've never understood why some guys prefer to play with more bugs.)

Thanks a lot, but I'm afraid it didn't do much good. I downloaded the patch you linked to, did a fresh install of moo2, and installed the patch. No deal. Same problem as before.

        hmmmm.....

what moo version do u have on your cd?

have u deleted the files on ur hd before u reinstalled moo?

        ftp://ftp.infogrames.net/patches/moo2/

(if this doesnt help just try the other 1.31 patches there.)

I have version 1.2. I'm pretty sure I deleted the folder first, but not 100%. I'll try a clean install and see what happens. And I'll try the patch you referred to above as well. Thanks for your help.

well i'll be damned. I just installed the 1.31 patch (dled from the Atari site) and I had the EXAXCT same error. I came here to post a new thread when I saw this one.

            I havent tried reinstalling yet.

I also had the 1.2 version (bought recently, used) Could there be a conflict of come kind between the 1.31 patch out there and the 1.2 version? Seems unlikely.

It is not that as most CD's are 1.2 and 1.31 works on them just fine.

If you copy the whole CD and then extract the patch some place and copy all of it into the directory, it should work.

Hi again. Haven't had much luck, but I haven't had time to go into it too much either. The patch I got my hands on had an installer, so I installed the patch directly into moo2 directory. Your post got me thinking, maybe some files aren't overidden(sp?) properly. I'll see if any files are write-protected. Maybe copying the patch files from another directory instead of using the installer will work.

I'll try that. I too extracted straight to the Moo2 directory.

Odly enough, when I extracted the update to a folder different than the moo2 folder, nothing appeared. I can't seem to get this thing to work.

Come on you guy's! There's got to be someone out there that knows what the trick is. Or maybe someone that know enough about the LBX-files to be able to see where our problem is and fix it. At least it's not just me with this problem.

I really dont understand. You talk about the above-mentioned 1.31patch (zip-file)?

I guess there is a simple explanation. Poor Homeworld was added in 1.3 or 1.31 in the racestuff.lbx.

So prolly your 1.2 exe uses the 1.31 racestuff or your 1.31 exe reads the old 1.2 racestuff.

You use the cd for moo? Or have you copied all the files to your hd?

Its not a zip file, its a self extracting application. It will NOT extract to a folder that doesnt have the old Moo2 (or some component?) in it. I tried extracting to a folder called Moo2patch. Wouldnt do it. I uninstalled, and tried to extract to the empty Moo2 folder. Wouldnt do that either.

Perhaps I need to dl from somewhere where the patch is in Zip format, instead of the self extracting app on the Atari site.

I do a standard install, which I assume puts all the files on the HD, though Ive left the CD when ive played.

dling the Zipfile instead of the .exe seems to have worked.
