  • Trying to get MOO2 to run properly

I broke out MOO2 again after several years hiatus. I am trying to run it on my Athlon 1.8 with a 19" LCD monitor. The game runs, but clips about 1/4" off the left and right sides of the screen. Very distracting. My monitor has a native resolution of 1280X1024. Anybody know a work around?

did u try changing the resolution of your screen? It sounds more like a graphics card problem though

Yeah, I did change the resolution without effect. My video card is an ATI 9600 Pro.

I had a lot of problems with Moo2 when I installed on my ATI 9800 PRO. I finally used Moslo to get around mouse issue and I am not seeing glitches in the video either.

I would check my drivers as well. Try setting down to 16bit color or at least not 32 high (if the monitor can hack it).

If this is XP go to http://www.ntcompatible.com/compat.php and see if you can get some help.

Thanks to everyone! I'm sure glad my computer is smarter than I am; it appears my Sony monitor has an "Auto" setting I'd overlooked. Selecting it solved my problem: MOO2 looks as it did when I first played it several years ago!

Perhaps the example of my stupidity will help someone in the future....

Never played any TBS games online. I use to play RTS against friends, but I can't take the stress any more.

I played some PBEM games, but after my current one (civ ptw) is done, that is it for me. They take too much time to complete. This one is well over a year old now.

I think I am just too old to want the competetiveness that is required (58). I now prefer to take it easy.

There are many players who are older than 40 or 50 years. The oldest player i am aware of is 63 or 64.

And most players take it really easy there. They play the 4ways for fun...and take "interesting" races....

Only a Ladder-1vs1 is really competitive. But not many online players like them because you are forced to play boring races....if u wanna play to improve ur elo score...
