I found a great open-source (which, being translated is "Free") program that lets you run old dos games, like Master of Orion 1, without any boot disks, in a window. Follow the easy step-by-step instructions.
Step One:
Download DosBox from here:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1
Step Two: Install it
Step Three: Open it
Step Four: Type "mount C" (leaving out the quotes and replacing C:\MoO with whatever directory Master of Orion is in)
Step Five (optional): Type Install, hit enter, and set up the sound with whatever way works; I just used the defaults for SoundBlaster-later, then exit the install program
Step Six: Type Orion and hit enter
Voila! Now you have Master of Orion!
(A word of warning: I just know this works on my computer; your results may vary. Also: I'm not responsible if you wreck your computer somehow. Duh. You do the stupid, you do the repairs. But if you follow these instructions, nothing bad should happen)
