  • New, trying to get MOO2 to run best in WinXP

I tried a few things (Pretty much just a DOS emulator and various compatibility settings), and have yet to see anywhere telling me to tweak other settings in Windows XP, but I have a few bugs that keep occurring ingame. I don't doubt that some of them cannot be remedied. Here's what happens:

    1. Eventually, after clicking so many buttons ingame, the buttons and menu backgrounds turn black, and as a result the game becomes quite unplayable. I can click around the screen to find the buttons and they will reappear, but the game simply cannot be played for long like this.
    2. When I load a game - ANY game - the whole screen turns funny colours. I can still see everything, but it is all green/purple/pink.
    3. Eventually the game crashes at a certain turn. It is never the same turn in any 2 games, but it is always the same turn in the same game, no matter what. If I exit and continue or load the game, it will crash at the same turn. When it happens, I do not neccesarily have a lot of commands being given (Sometimes it happens near the beginning...sometimes.)

I'm pretty sure that's it. Any suggestions or references to other threads/websites, is appreciated, and I hope to get back into this game if I can get these things fixed.

I had that issue with it for a time. I can't remember what cured it.
I played with the refresh rate, 16 bit color and drivers. I now have a new motherboard and set it 16 bit color and nothing else and it works.

Oh, I uh, suppose my system specs are important:

      AMD Athlon 2600+ (Barton)
      Radeon 9700 Pro
      ASUS A7N8X
      512MB PC2700 DDRAM (Corsair)
      Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum

...if any issues have arisen from this hardware.
