It does not help against shields, planetary defences, monsters and heavy or xentronium armor.
Against stupidity the very gods themselves contend in vain.

It might be just a factor of cost -- having a few racks of "regular guns" with a couple of APs -- if the APs have the opportunity cost of only an extra gun, then the feature might be worth it.

Correct, but as we (I think) will mainly use it against normal enemies, the hits will go directly to the internal damage and therefore help us destroying enemy ships. Why shall we waist 'energy' on the enemies armor, if we can bypass it.

And as shields are not yet so strong, the extra amount needed is not such a strong factor yet.

Can't remember if it was an extra or just an option: Can we already bypass shields as well?

Mass drivers won't bust planets, so thats not too much of a concern, we can bring in a ship loaded with mirv mercs or nukes to crack a planet if we have to.

Shield piercing is only on phasors and particle beams.

Another thing about AP, it doesn't work against heavy armor or xentronium, but the ai rarely if ever has either.
And Achilles targeting pierces X armor and heavy armor so reinforced hulls are a must then.

Basically, we don't know if we will fire first, reinforced hulls add that much more between a lucky enemy shot and our ship.

Let's first survive till that time :-) For now, do as you wish but do not forget to leave a minimal amount of empty space ...

Sorry, didn't have time to play MoO2 untill now.

This is for all colonies: first build Star Bases, then military structure on planets and then Battle Stations ( I mean the bigger star base ). The build queue of Tycho II is good. I haven't decided anything on population yet.
The Chuck Norris military unit was not used in the game Civilization 4, because a single Chuck Norris could defeat the entire combined nations of the world in one turn.
