Naming stars?

Hi all,

One thing we might have forgotten:

As we settle into new systems, we will have the chance to rename the star.

If you want to rename, like to honour certain persons or whatever, please vote Yes.
If you don't want to rename, vote no
If you don't care you can choose Abstain/Banana.

Please also feel free to post suggestions or if you don't like my idea

My idea for renaming:

Open a thread, where everyone can post his suggestion and it is being worked from top downwards. And to be fair to everyone, we could post like in a succession-game, one after the other.

Well, I usually rename certain systems. Like I will rename all ultra-rich systems with names of precious stones. Artifact systems are named after famous scientists. Rich systems get names of "somethingstone", where something is a colour (which includes golden and silver, etc.).

Poor and ultra-poor planets have names like crap, poop, etc.

Yes, we should rename stars.... hell, that's half the fun.

What's the limit for characters in a name? We should come up with a way to identify all the major characteristics of a planet in the name if we want to do an "official" renaming scheme. If not, maybe we should start the thread Gilgamensch suggested and just have everyone post planet names there then go down the list as needed.

The length is not fixed, it depends on the location of the system. If another one is to close, it might be only 4 letters.

But it is in the range of 4-8 letters.

It's definately more than that -- unless the tag bumps another star, as you said.

Ugh. That could make this a difficult process, then. I'd hate to run polls for every star system.
