  • POll: Government

This poll is to decide upon, which government style we will use during the MoO2-game itself (nothing to do with our DG, this is by default Democracy )

    We had the following options:

    50 : Dictatorship / 0
    30 : Feudal / -4
    40 : Uni / +6

Keep in mind that Uni is only an option if you vote repulsive in the other thread!!!!! Otherwise, it wouldn't be possible anymore as we can only get a maximum of -2 points with spying!!

This poll will have 4 options:

    Dictator
    Feudal
    Uni
    Abstain
    11
    Dictator
    36.36%
    4
    Feudal
    27.27%
    3
    Uni
    36.36%
    4
    abstain/banana
    0.00%
    0

    The poll is expired.

Again, I voted for Uni, but I don't understand picking a gov before you have any other traits. Feudal is a trait that does not go with just any ole picks.
    Sorry for being a pain.

As we have to many picks left, we have to try to narrow the selection down. I though, picking the government 'first' will help trying to narrow down for further selection.........

The only negative traits we have included in the list are,

Dictator (-4), repulsive (-6) and -20%Ship def (-2). So if we now decide against Dictator and in the other poll against repulsive, we would only have at most 2 extra points for race-picks.
That was the reason why I went down this path. Somewhere we had to start to eliminate picks...........

It was not voted for in the previous poll, so we won't include it further.

Who voted for Spying? We are dropping our Spying ability for more choice points aren't we?

I presume you mean Feudal. Its all in fun, so anyway you want to do it is fine.

I was looking at all the posts recently & I think that we're getting close to wanting to sit down & play.

To do that we may want to simplify some of the decisions -- both now & later. If we go with the creative subbies (14 points so far) adding uni puts us at 20 -- done for the positive side. Uni strips out a couple of latter decisons (even as creative does as well.) So I voted for Uni.

Having a repulsive downside simplifies later negotiation decisions -- which may be a plus for our first democracy game. If we are creative, then spying is less of a need, and repulsive is less of a minus (reduced need for negotiating for techs). So we should put up a disad poll soon.
Those with lower expectations face fewer disappointments

Give me feudal with it's additional four picks. I've never seen much advantage with different government types anyway.

If you just want your full 10 minus picks you can do it will a lot less pain than Feudal. Rep, -GC, -SA is completely without pain for Creative race as they do not need to trade for tech or steal it.
To me Feudal is all about blitz, if you do not intend to go all out to take down other races, you have no use for Feudal. In fact, I would only use it with Tele and try to finish the game in about 75 turns. Not really a fun game.

Indeed. If you can't exploit the Fedual advantage very early to have a very large fleet and lots of colonies, you're going to lose out because of the massive penalities in research.
