Of course the support is great. But, I also think that the point "ladder" system of the metaverse is a nice addition to a TBS game. While there might be a physics engine that applies to the jugs, I doubt that an entire engine was written specifically for the funbags. - Cyclotron - debating the pressing issue of boobies in games.

Aside from the sheer level of customer support brought to GalCiv, most of this stuff was done elsewhere before (although GalCiv is pretty coo in bringing it all together). For instance:
(1) Diplomatic Influence: border setting and culture flipping via influence was introduced in Civ3.
(2) Politics: while not "galactic", SMAC had the Planetary Council which also proposed bills. So did MoO3 (although MoO3's blows)
(3) Metaverse: people have been doing these sorts of ladders independently for awhile. Stardock just set an official ladder.
(4) Going into Debt: MoO3 did it.
(5) Starbases: called 'tile improvements' in Civ, Civ2, Civ3, C:CtP, CtP2, SMAC, SMAX, etc.
(6) Good and Evil: Black and White (Although I guess that B&W wasn't TBS ...)
(7) Diplomacy system: hmmm, even the diplomacy screen is set up like CtP2 and Civ3 ...
(8) Battlebanana Ships: available in MoO and MoO2 (class between battleship and titan in the latter)
GalCiv may not be strikingly original, but the features are implemented so well - a fact in itself that is original. Of course, originality isn't all its cracked up to be. MoO3 was somewhat original (hardly revolutionary - so don't even take that line) but it doesn't work. What good is originality if the game doesn't work. Its kind of like Sonic Youth - sure they were original, but their brand of noise didn't really work as music.- "A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it still ain't a part number." - Ron Reynolds

An AI that actually comes closer to being artificially intelligent than artificially idiotic. Close to being a first outside of pure strategy games like Othello, Go and Chess. To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.

I voted for the good/Evil morality engine, it's one of those GalCiv's compounds bringing a fresh air to the TBS. But let's not forget the impressive multithreaded AI, Metaverse, diplomacy system ( though still need some fixes, namely trade/per month cursors ), starbases and resources ( but I agree on fixing the modules economic power and maintenance, actually overpowered ).The art of mastering:"la Maîtrise des caprices du subconscient avant tout".
