  • Question about the security features

    Heya,

I'm going to pick up GalCivs. My computer is currently being shipped across the country and I was going to DL, burn and play it at a friend's computer for the next few weeks instead. Is this going to pose difficulties when my computer returns and I install it there instead?

This isn't a piracy scheme - I just don't want to run into any troubles.

It is my understanding that there is absolutely no copy protection on the CD itself. In fact, you can install the game and not even have the CD in the drive to play. (Haven't tried it myself; CD is still in the drive from installation.)

The main protection in the game is through the CD key. Each game sold has the key that went out with it recorded. That means there is no potential for keygens. To download patches and bonuspacks, you have to register the game with the CD key.

Since you're downloading it, I would assume that it is just an executable. You should be able to install it anywhere and however many times you want (within reason) for your own use (check the EULA though). The only limitation is on registering the game.
