Galactic Civilizations Road Map
Before release, quite a few people were skeptical about our plan to provide significant updates after release. Not just updates to fix "bugs" but updates that add new game features.
With 1.01 released on the day of release and 1.01A released last week, we have 1.02 in development and this next week we plan to release 1.02 as a stand alone update to GalCiv players. If you're using Stardock Central, you can already check out what we're doing.
Stay tuned! The fun is just starting!
So where have we gone so far?
1.01 was the update that included the "BonusPak" which included new ships, events, technologies, United Planets resolutions, and more. But more than that, it also added an MP3 player, an enhanced player setup screen, and a game winning conditions status screen.
1.01A added additional events, a new cut scene, playability tweaks, smarter AI and some bug fixes.
1.02 adds some of the first significant post-release features requested by players. These include:
+ Option to make ships automatically leaving orbit when you cmplete them.
+ Toggle on the right side between the mini map and the planet list so that it's easier to know where a given planet is located in the galaxy.
+ More intelligent AI while penalized more on lower levels to kepe it from being too hard at lower difficulty settings.
Plus there are other bug fixes in it based on reports.
There will be other updates between 1.02 and the free Expansion pack coming out in June.
The expansion pack will have a host of new types of star base modules, new cut scenes, new events, an in-game technology tutorial, instant access to where various statistics are derived from (i.e. why is my morale 57%? what bonuses are affecting this battle cruiser? and so forth) and lots of other goodies.
And there will be continuing updates after that made available via Stardock Central as well as stand alone updates. SDCentral is designed to allow us to do many updates per week for those users who are anxious to get very very regular updates. For those who prefer to wait for just major updates, the stand alone update will work fine.
