Has there been any examples of what the different star system invasion types do? Are some of them tied to techs, and possible to be banned through the UP?

It seems to be a fairly new feature, but sounds really promising. The more imaginative way to turn planets to lifeless slag, the better.

Anyway, about planetary assault options: I haven't really used any of the more imaginative ones. They are hideously expensive, and I'm just too cheap to use my money on killing aliens, when I could use them to buy big pretty space ships. Of vourse that also means that I have yet to invade a planet, where the odds were not for me. Probably I would spend the money if it meant the difference between winning and losing.
