They're working on 1.6x now, I believe. I scanned over the thread, and the item that stood out is that they're reducing system requirements so that the game won't bog down so much in the later game or on bigger maps. This is good. Frogboy made cryptic references to incorporating elements of other games he's working on. No list of tweaks and fixes, though.
The beta for 1.6x is out. I haven' t messed with it, and probably won't until it is final in 2 or 3 weeks.
