How do I determine what a planet's maximum population and it's rate of growth is(all I can see is the current population)? Also, in GalCivI I would move population around using colony ships to quickly grow population on key planets and to make room on planets that had reached their population limit. Is this still a viable tactic?

Hold on, that's not what the manual says. On page 24 it says that population growth is affected by the planet's approval rating. This is confusing me because of what the manual then says about population growth on page 30. Are there increments of population growth between 30% and 100% approval rating?"I'm trying to think but nothin' happens"-Jerome "Curly" Howard

There is a post in the wiki describing it, but the basic is:
Maximum Population (in billions) = 0.02 * ( ( PQ + 1 ) ^ 3 )
where PQ = Planet Quality (max is 100B)
Growth is 3% capped at 100M/week modified by happiness bonus and finally racail bonuses. 100% hapiness gives 200% growth, 75% gives 125% growth, below 50% you actually get some penalty, what I'm not sure.Visit my CTP-page and get TileEdit and a few other CTP related programs.

Population growth is also related to maximum population - your population grows slower when it approaches the maximum.

Both wrong, se my post above for an explanation. The short answer is: untill you reach the base pop prowth cap 100M/week, your population growth is affected by both current population, morale, and native ability, after that its only morale and native ability.Visit my CTP-page and get TileEdit and a few other CTP related programs.

i still don't understands how it works. in arcea (class 10) i have an approval of 100 % and i'm stuck at 15.40. there are two xeno farmings (food production=34). it has been several "weeks" since i built the last transport and nothing has changed...
what is wrong ???

That's strange the cap should be 34.6B for a PQ 10 planet. Has the population been higher? try posting a savegame and let's have a look. Or try posting at the forums on galciv2.comVisit my CTP-page and get TileEdit and a few other CTP related programs.

yes, it's been higher: 17.40.
after a few more weeks, it started to grow (0.2 each turn) but when it reaches 17.40 stops completely... i built another farm but it was pointless.
and it's not the only planet with this problem. i really need more population, because is a gigantic map and i only left the conquest victory. (invading planets has a terrible effect on population !!!!)
where are the savegames ????
